Two Men Jailed After Family’s Home Destroyed in Bitter Land Dispute

Two men, Ssembuze Elly and Miyingo Vicent, have been charged with crimes related to land grabbing in Namulanda Ward, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), brought them before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrate’s Court earlier today.

The charges stem from an incident on April 6, 2025, around midnight, where the accused, allegedly accompanied by armed individuals, unlawfully demolished a residential house belonging to Mr. Twambale Robert and his family, who had lived there for over 30 years. They also destroyed structures, including a poultry house and a pigsty, and reportedly stole various household items.

This case is part of an ongoing land dispute between the family of the late Bethuel Nsubuga, Mr. Twambale’s father, and the family of the late Cyprian Ssemwanga over ownership of 2.6 acres of land in Namulanda Ward.

The court has remanded Ssembuze Elly and Miyingo Vicent until May 26, 2025, as investigations continue.
