On April 18, 2025, Sheriff Salifu, a young businessman, and his girlfriend, Blessing Adama, were found dead in a bedroom in Kogi State. The couple was discovered naked in Sheriff’s room, sending shockwaves through the community.
The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident on April 19, 2025, through spokesperson SP William Aya. He described the deaths as sudden and unnatural, noting that an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
Police visited the scene, took photographs, and moved the bodies to the Zonal Hospital in Ankpa for a post-mortem examination. Early reports suggested possible food poisoning, but no official cause has been confirmed.
The landlord, Salisu Ibrahim, alerted the police when Sheriff did not leave his room by 9:31 AM, which was unusual. Sheriff’s brother accessed the room through the ceiling and found the couple lifeless on the bed. The discovery left residents confused and fearful.
Sheriff’s family requested his body for burial according to Islamic rites, which has been completed. Blessing’s body remains in the morgue pending further investigation. Blessing was a student at the Kogi State College of Education, adding to the tragedy’s impact.
The police are working to uncover whether the deaths were accidental or involved foul play. The community awaits answers as the investigation continues.
