A Ugandan woman, identified as Alinaitwe Ketra, has been accused of scamming individuals by exploiting the recent death of a wildlife photographer, referred to as Saad, who reportedly died in a road accident. The allegations, raised by Gideon Nova Kwikizara on social media, have prompted a response from Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye, who called for the matter to be reported to authorities.
According to posts on X, Ketra allegedly posed as Saad’s girlfriend, claiming she was a university student whose tuition was funded by the deceased. Kwikizara stated that one individual sent Ketra 300,000 UGX intended for a campaign associated with “Saad Jr,” after which she reportedly switched off her phone. Another user, @ashrafomar_ug, claimed Ketra did not attend Saad’s burial and lacks knowledge of “Saad Jr’s” whereabouts, further labeling her actions as fraudulent.
The late Saad, described as a respected wildlife photographer, is said to have perished in a tragic road accident that also claimed another man’s life. Ugandans on social media expressed condolences, praising Saad’s contributions to society. However, no official police report or mainstream news coverage has confirmed the accident or the photographer’s identity as of April 27, 2025.
Responding on X, Rtd AIGP Asan Kasingye, a former senior police official known for his public engagement, urged Kwikizara to formally report the alleged scam to the police for investigation. Kasingye’s call aligns with his history of advocating for legal action in public disputes.
The allegations against Ketra remain unverified, with no police statement or arrests reported. The identity of “Saad Jr” and the purpose of the associated campaign are also unclear. Authorities have yet to comment on the matter, and further details are awaited to substantiate the claims.
As the story develops, Ugandans are urged to exercise caution with unsolicited fundraising appeals, particularly those linked to recent tragedies. Anyone with information about the alleged scam is encouraged to contact the Uganda Police Force for further investigation.
