Three people lost their lives and one was seriously injured in a road accident that occurred on the morning of October 20, 2025, at about 8:30 a.m. The crash took place at Kyoga Village, Namusera Parish, Wakiso Town Council, along the Kampala to Hoima highway.
Reports indicate that a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UGD 327F was carrying four people from Hoima to Kampala. The rider reportedly stopped abruptly to avoid hitting a parked Sinotruk truck and an oncoming vehicle. In the process, all four passengers fell off the motorcycle, resulting in three fatalities and one injury.
The deceased have been identified as Byandagalo Shafick, aged 28, who was riding the motorcycle, Galabuzi Robinson, aged 27, and Jjemba Shafick, aged 23. The survivor, identified only as Edison, a resident of Nkoowe Village in Mende Sub-county, Wakiso District, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Traffic police officers quickly arrived at the scene, recorded witness statements, and arranged for the bodies to be taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to establish what exactly caused the crash. He also called on motorists and motorcyclists to observe traffic safety rules, especially when overtaking or driving near stationary vehicles.
This accident highlights the rising number of road crashes on Uganda’s major highways. Many of these tragedies are linked to reckless riding, overloading, and failure to follow traffic regulations. Police have continued to urge road users to remain cautious and alert to prevent more deaths on the roads.
