“I Am Not Struggling”– Gen. Kale Kayihura Breaks Silence on Viral Photo and Life After Retirement

Retired General Kale Kayihura has spoken out after a photo of him walking in Kampala went viral, sparking rumors that he was struggling financially.

The former Inspector General of Police dismissed these claims, saying that the image was misleading and taken out of context.

Speaking to the media, Kayihura explained that he was on his way to a meeting when the picture was taken.

He chose to walk because of heavy traffic, and his security detail was nearby. He clarified that he was not alone or facing any difficulties.

“I am a private citizen now. I have the freedom to live my life as I wish. Walking is not a sign of struggle,” he said.

Kayihura retired from the police force in 2018 after serving as Uganda’s Inspector General of Police for over a decade.

Since then, he has kept a low profile, focusing on his farm in Lyantonde District.

He revealed that he spends most of his time managing his livestock, which includes goats and cows. His farm also produces yoghurt, a business that keeps him busy.

“Farming is something I have done for years. It is not new. I enjoy it, and it gives me peace,” he stated.

Despite stepping away from active politics and security matters, Kayihura remains a subject of public interest.

His rare appearances at government functions and social events have led to speculation about a possible political comeback.

Some have linked him to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces, suggesting that he might still influence Uganda’s leadership.

However, Kayihura dismissed these claims, saying he is not currently interested in politics.

He insisted that he is focused on his personal life and business activities.

“I have served my country. Now, I just want to live peacefully. People should not read too much into my actions,” he said.

The retired general urged Ugandans not to believe everything they see on social media.

He explained that his lifestyle is a personal choice and not a sign of financial struggles.

“Walking is normal. Farming is normal. Let people not exaggerate things,” he concluded.

Kayihura’s response has put to rest the rumors surrounding his recent public appearance. For now, he seems content with his life away from the spotlight.
