Police in the Philippines are looking into a sad and shocking case where seven bakery workers were killed. The man suspected of the killings is said to be their boss, and the attack happened during a birthday party the workers had organized for him.
The workers were all employees of J&B Malunggay Bakery and lived at the bakery. On the night of the incident, they were drinking and celebrating their boss’s birthday. But the celebration turned into a nightmare.
According to police reports, the bakery owner stabbed his employees while they were drunk and sleeping. A nearby villager heard one of the workers crying out in pain and quickly called the police.
When officers arrived, they found bodies lying in pools of blood. One of the workers was still breathing but sadly died on the way to the hospital. The rest had already passed away from multiple stab wounds.
Reports from the Daily Mail say the bakery owner may have believed the workers were planning to gang up on him, which made him act violently. About two hours after the killings, the suspect walked into a police station and surrendered himself.
While speaking to the police, the suspect said he had nowhere to run. “If I leave town, they will still catch me. So I went straight to the police,” he said.
He confessed to the killings, but police are not fully convinced he did it all by himself. They suspect there may have been someone else helping him.
Colonel Felipe Maraggun, the provincial police director, said they are looking deeper into the case. “We don’t fully believe his version of the story. There might be another person involved, and we are checking the evidence carefully,” he said.
The bakery, once a place of work and shelter for the men, is now a crime scene. The community is shocked and heartbroken over the loss of seven lives in such a tragic and brutal way.
