Blood and Tears on Kyegegwa–Mubende Road as Four Die in Motor Accident

A road accident in Mubende District has left four people dead and twenty others injured. The crash happened on September 5, 2025, at around 4:30 in the morning along the Nabutiti–Kisujja section of the Kyegegwa–Mubende road. The vehicle involved was an Isuzu Elf, registration number UBF 636F, which was carrying about thirty-five passengers traveling to a burial in Kassanda.

According to police, the vehicle lost control, went off the road, and overturned. Four people died instantly. They were identified as Anold Maniriho aged 43, Sekubulye Richard aged 36, Tumuranze Enid aged 40, and Kobusingye Edvina aged 23. All of them were residents of Kangoma ‘A’ in Rushango Town Council, Ibanda District.

Several other passengers were injured in the crash, including Karuhanga James aged 34, Mukamohere Kellen aged 45, Karire Jackline aged 34, Mufuruko Edison, Twiine Innocent aged 21, Kwendera John aged 58, Tumwikirize Scovia aged 56, Tugume Medard, and Busingye Medius aged 53. Police said some of the victims have not yet been identified.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and recorded the details. The injured were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. The vehicle was towed for inspection.

Investigators believe careless driving was the main cause of the accident and said efforts are ongoing to arrest and charge the driver. Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala confirmed the investigation, while the Public Relations Officer for the Wamala Region assured the public that authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
