Bukoto South MP Twaha Kagabo has once again taken the spotlight, publicly admitting to receiving the controversial Shs 100 million Easter package from President Museveni.
The money, which has been at the center of heated debate, was reportedly distributed to a number of MPs, sparking uproar on social media and among political commentators.
Kagabo, however, is steadfast in his decision to own his actions and refuses to shy away from the truth.
Appearing on Sanyuka TV’s political talk show hosted by Adam Kungu, Kagabo explained that not only did he personally receive the funds, but he also knows many of his fellow legislators who took their share.
He openly criticized some of his colleagues, accusing them of deceptively signing a petition initiated by the Leader of Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi, which condemned the President’s generosity.
According to Kagabo, some MPs even tried to disguise themselves as they picked up their share of the money, fearing the backlash from their constituents.
“Some of these colleagues are pretending to be saints, but I know the truth. They can hide their actions, but I won’t. I am not apologizing to anyone for receiving the money,” Kagabo said during the interview.
“If they provoke me, I will expose them. The truth always comes out in the end.”
This is not the first time the MP has caused a stir with his controversial actions. In a previous incident, Kagabo showed up at Parliament with a pile of money, claiming he was returning it after pressure from his party, National Unity Platform (NUP), to do so.
The situation backfired when the then Leader of Opposition (LoP) became evasive, leaving Kagabo to face investigations by the Inspector General of Government (IGG).
Despite the humiliation and pressure, Kagabo believes that standing up for the truth often comes at a personal cost.
During the interview, Kagabo was clear about his stance: he has learned to accept isolation and criticism as the price of honesty.
“I will always stand by the truth, even if it means standing alone,” he said.
Kagabo’s unwavering confession and defiance of political pressure have certainly made him a divisive figure. While some see him as a man of integrity, others view his actions as self-serving and reckless.
Regardless, his candidness continues to spark discussions about transparency, accountability, and the complexities of political loyalty.
