In Kyotera District, a surprising incident has left many residents shocked. Lubega Francis, a retired Police Constable, was caught stealing matooke (bananas) from the garden of local resident Ssebabuga Bernard.
What makes this case unusual is that Lubega, who once served to uphold the law, was now found breaking it by stealing from a neighbor.
The theft had been ongoing for some time, prompting Ssebabuga to report the matter to the police. Determined to catch the culprit, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations (OC CID) called in a police dog named Tracker.
Tracker was given the scent from the theft scene and quickly followed the trail. The dog led officers directly to Lubega’s home, confirming suspicions.
To the astonishment of the police and the community, Lubega was found with the stolen bananas in his possession. When questioned, he confessed to the theft without denial.
This incident sends a clear message: justice applies to everyone, regardless of their past roles or status. Even a former law enforcement officer can be held accountable for criminal acts.
The police dog’s unbiased work highlights that trained animals enforce the law without favoritism or prejudice.
Residents of Kyotera have reacted with mixed emotions—some are incredulous, while others feel justice has been served.
The story serves as a powerful reminder that the law protects everyone and that no one is above facing consequences for their actions.
