Former media personality and proud mother Zuena Kirema recently shared an emotional story about her son, Alpha Thierry Ssali, and the health condition he has bravely faced for years.
Alpha, the eldest son of Zuena and Ugandan music star Bebe Cool, is a talented footballer who plays for NEC FC. But behind his strong image on the pitch, Alpha has been dealing with a serious eye condition called exotropia.
Zuena revealed that Alpha was not born with the condition. It developed after he got into an accident while he was still young.
The accident damaged his eye and caused it to turn outward, which is what exotropia does. Since then, the young footballer has gone through four eye surgeries in an effort to correct the problem.
Zuena said that what hurts the most is how people on social media continue to mock her son about his eye. She shared her pain, saying the trolls have no idea what their family has been through.
“When I post about my son, they complain about his eye. That boy has had four eye surgeries. He sees the comments, and it hurts him,” she said.
She added that despite the harsh words, she is proud of how far Alpha has come. She’s hopeful that with time, his condition will improve even more.
Zuena’s story is a reminder to always be kind, you never know the struggles someone is hiding behind their smile.
