Two years ago, Ssalongo Nsikonnene Habib Ssezigu, a traditional healer from Mukono District, made headlines when he married seven wives on the same day. Many doubted his marriage would last, but he has now surprised everyone again, each of his wives has given birth to one child, bringing the total to seven babies.
Nsikonnene, who lives in Namasengere Village, Kyampisi Sub-County, says he is proud of his growing family. He has welcomed four boys and three girls, and he is not stopping there.
In fact, he plans to have even more children, saying, “This is just the beginning. I intend to have more children, probably every two years.”
On his wedding day in September 2023, Nsikonnene and his wives held a grand traditional Muslim ceremony in Bugereka Village.
Each wife arrived separately in her own vehicle, and the event featured a massive motorcade of 35 cars and 40 motorcycles. Curious locals lined the roads to witness the rare event.
Despite people predicting jealousy and fights, Nsikonnene says his wives live together peacefully under one roof.
Some believe he used charms to keep them in harmony, but he insists that polygamy runs in his blood. His great-grandfather had eight wives, and his father had five, so managing a big family comes naturally to him.
Nsikonnene’s popularity has grown, with many men seeking his advice on how to handle multiple wives. Some locals even want him to run for political office, but he has refused, saying he does not like politics. “I already have money and fame. Politics only brings hatred,” he said.
With seven children now and more planned in the future, Nsikonnene is on track to achieving his dream of fathering over 100 children. Many are watching to see if he will reach his goal!
