Outspoken academic and activist Dr. Stella Nyanzi left Ugandans stunned and amused on Saturday after she publicly sought advice on how to find love again following a breakup.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nyanzi candidly wrote, “I need advice, my people.
Now that I’m single and whole again… I realise I’ve been out of practice too long… So, fisherwomen: HOW DO I CATCH A GOOD FISH?”
The post sparked hundreds of reactions online, with followers offering a mix of humorous, heartfelt, and blunt responses.
One user advised her to “choose the one you want and enjoy the moment without a lot of attachment,” to which Nyanzi replied, “I am the type that gets attached… This non-attachment is very hard for me.”
Another admirer wrote, “You are an open book and a good fish will love you for that… Allow yourself to fall in love when a good fish presents itself.”
In her signature unfiltered style, Nyanzi further asked her followers, “Where do good fishes present themselves? Is there a specific place?” a question that drew both playful and serious suggestions.
One respondent warned her to watch out for the charming ones, stating, “The fish that’s kind in the eyes of many is internally wicked.”
Known for her fearless voice in Ugandan politics and feminism, Nyanzi’s openness about her personal life has once again sparked national conversation this time, about love, healing, and the modern dating pool.
